Hello everybody! Recently I got the chance to hold a workshop about Japanese Fabric Material Produciton at my old university. Here I gave some insights into my award winning project "Fabric Material Library of traditional Japanese Stlye" (you can find at my portfolio) as well as an overview about my general process in Adobe Substance 3D Designer.
Along the way preparing this 6 hours workshop I had a lot of fun and got to explore new techniques and optimize my workflow in Substance Designer. After a theoretical introduction of the subject I built a kimono fabric material step by step together with the audience while teaching the most important basics as well as advanced techniques for the creation of procedural fabrics. Result is this festive crane kimono fabric we have here. All in all I must say my first teaching experience was great and I enjoyed working with the students a lot. Definitely looking forward to holding a workshop again in the future!
